Assessment of the efficiency of management models in higher education institutions

Purpose. The purpose of the study is to develop and test an integral indicator of the efficiency of management of higher education institutions (HEIs) in Ukraine based on multi-criteria analysis using the TOPSIS method.
Results. Assessment and analysis of management efficiency in Ukrainian HEIs allowed to determine the dynamics of development of various types of universities during 2014–2023 and key trends in the higher education system. The results of the study indicate a significant impact of the efficiency of management models on the quality of functioning of HEIs. Key factors contributing to successful management are identified, including strategic planning, adaptability to changes and the implementation of innovative approaches. The need to integrate modern technologies and digital tools into the management system is confirmed. Prospects for the development of management models aimed at increasing the competitiveness and sustainability of HEIs in conditions of dynamic changes are outlined.
Scientific novelty. The novelty of the presented research lies in the definition and theoretical substantiation of modern approaches to the management of HEIs in conditions of dynamic changes. A conceptual model is proposed that integrates strategic planning, digital transformation and adaptive management mechanisms. For the first time, a comprehensive analysis of the impact of innovative technologies on the efficiency of management processes in the field of education has been carried out. The obtained results expand theoretical ideas about the modernisation of management systems and can serve as the basis for practical recommendations for increasing the competitiveness of HEIs.
Practical value. The practical value of the study lies in the possibility of applying its results to improve the efficiency of management of modern HEIs. The proposed approaches contribute to the improvement of strategic planning, optimisation of management processes and the introduction of innovative technologies, which allows increasing the competitiveness and adaptability of educational institutions. The use of the developed recommendations will contribute to improving the quality of educational services, increasing the level of satisfaction of higher education applicants and teachers, as well as creating favourable conditions for the development of a modern educational ecosystem.
